How to Measure

No matter what type of blind you are looking for, measuring your windows couldn't be easier. It doesn't take long, just follow these simple instructions.

What you will need

1. Tape measure (metal ones are best)
2. Pen and Paper

Exact or Recess?

Exact - This is when you want your blind to hang outside the window recess.
Recess - This is when you want your blind to fit inside the window recess.

Handy Hint

Take all your measurements in millimetres (mm) to the nearest 1mm. When measuring, always look out for things like window handles or tiles and take their position into account if necessary. This is so you can be sure of the perfect fit.
All our blinds can be fitted into the face of your window frame or wall, or into the top of the lintel. This gives you complete control over the positioning of your blind.

2 Simple steps to a Recess measurement

1. Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the recess to the window sill in 3 places as shown in the image below. Note down the shortest measurement - this will be the one we will use. We always add more for Roller Blinds.
2. Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in 3 places as shown in the image below. Note down the shortest measurement - this will be the one we will use.

2 simple steps to an Exact measurement

1. Measure the exact drop from the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom. Note down the measurement.
2. Measure the exact width of where you'd like your blind to be. Note down the measurement.

How to fit

Fitting a blind is so simple that we are confident it won't take you long! Just follow these steps below. You will also receive printed instruction with your blinds.

What you will need

1. Power drill
2. Drill bit
3. Crosshead Screwdriver
4. Pencil

What type of drill bit should I use?

If you are drilling into concrete, brick or plaster, you should use a 5.5mm diameter masonary drill bit.

If you are drilling into wood, steel or UPVC you should use a 3mm diameter high speed steel (HSS) drill bit.

Handy Hints

If you are drilling into tiles, then cover your drilling point with masking tape. This will prevent the drill from slipping on the tiles when you start drilling.

If you are drilling into UPVC make sure you avoid the sealed unit. If you are unsure, then why not give us a call.

4 Simple steps to fitting your blind

All our blinds come with easy to follow instructions:

1. Gather your tools and unpack your blind. Inside you will find all the fixtures and fittings that you will need as well as a more comprehensive set of instructions.
2. Decide where you want your blind to be positioned and mark out the drill holes in pencil. In most cases you will only need to drill 2 holes. Usually these should be positioned about 150mm from the end of the blind. Roller Blind fittings are at the ends of the rollers. Wider blinds will need more holes drilling, but don't worry, full details will come supplied with your blind.
3. Drill the holes and then screw the brackets into place. You will also be provided with rawl plugs, should you need to use them.
4. Fit your blind into the brackets. Almost all styles of blind will just click into place. It really is that easy!
